I start internship #2 tomorrow. It’s for the site WEGO Health and even though it’s unpaid like my current internship, I couldn’t be more excited. Somehow, over the course of a couple of months, I decided that I wanted to be a health reporter. So when I saw this internship on Craigslist, I KNEW I had to go for it. Unpaid? And I have to go to an office? If it were any other internship, I would have said, “Thanks, but no thanks,” and kept it moving. But something about this one felt right. I applied and got a response a few days later. After a few email exchanges, solidified tomorrow as my first day. I’m happy.
And maybe a little nervous. I still have my Ironic internship and, while I am confident I can handle both at the same time, I am a little worried about stretching myself too thin, as I have a tendency to do. I am also still freelancing and looking for something more permanent for the rest of the summer, as well as helping a friend build his website. Then there is the NABJ convention to start preparing for. In short, I got very busy in a short amount of time.
But I’m a Scorpio, and we thrive in these sort of crazy-packed-always-on-a-deadline environments. Free time makes me nervous. What it all comes down to is time management, something I’ve never been good at. But with my senior year looming, it’s something I have to learn, and quickly.
Deep breath. Focus. Divide and conquer.
I can do this.
